SOMEONE LIKE YOU

On a tight wire strung out between the pylons of a circus tent, Ayin dances like a H.C. Andersenesq fairy-tale character high under the sails of the tent cloth. In the background, her sister Sky stands ready to perform a poetic play with strings. It is performance no. 260. And it is definitely the last. After years of artistic and personal coexistence, the artists of the French circus troupe CIRQUE have reached the end of the road. Both the physical and the mental fatigue are overwhelming, and the rehearsals for the last tour is shattered by a painful dilemma between the constant presence of the restricting bond and the horror of impending separation. The siblings Ayin and Sky in particular give the demons free rein, connected like Siamese twins by the turbulent years of childhood, they are as fragile as glass figurines. Someone Like You is a moving and visually stylish study on the possibilities of love.

The film received a Talent Dove at DOK-Leipzig´s Young Talent Competition 2007 and the Grand Prix at Odense International Short & Documentary Festival 2007.
